The instability of solid hardwood floors is chiefly caused by water and heat. These factors can cause the wood to warp and even split apart. But engineered hardwood flooring has been created to deal with these concerns. Engineered flooring is produced by 3 to 10 different layers of plywood, high density fiberboard, or hardwood that are glued together in a cross-plying construction. This provides the flooring with added durability and because of the layers it’ll resist warping better than solid hardwood flooring.
